Our Prediction:

Hertha Berlin will win

Hertha Berlin – Hoffenheim Match Prediction | 26-10-2019 09:30

Last time out, Hoffenheim faced a potential banana-skin trip to Augsburg, though they avoided any embarrassment by battering their hosts, winning by four goals to nil. Much of the same can be said for when they were last in action at this venue. On that occasion, Julian Nagelsmanns men were excellent offensively, both in terms of creativity and end-product, while they gave next to nothing away at the back. A repeat of either of their last two performances would likely see the hosts maintain the winning thread on Sunday afternoon. On that occasion, Hoffenheim once again flexed their attacking muscles, as they beat Leverkusen by four goals to one.

In addition to poor recent form all round, Hertha have struggled on the road this season. Moreover, theyve shipped a rather worrying average of 1.79 goals on the road and have conceded an average 1.8 expected goals. Such numbers are anything but positive ahead of their trip to face Hoffenheim, who average 1.79 goals for and 2.38 expected goals for at home. Sundays visitors have won just four of their 14 travelling matches, while theyve lost each of their last three.

Scores Vs Opponents

Pal Dardais side made headlines just over a month ago by becoming the first team to beat Niko Kovacs Bayern Munich (a 2-0 win), but now their outlook is a lot bleaker. Heavy defeats at home to RB Leipzig (3-0) and away to promoted Fortuna Dusseldorf (4-1) make Hertha Berlins stellar start to the season feel like a distant memory. Coming back from the international break, Hertha have a number of injuries to work around, including the absences of their entire first-choice defence, three to injury and one to suspension (see team news). Things were going so well. Consequently, Hertha will have to turn to players like young Dutch defender Derrick Luckassen to make just his second Bundesliga start, while also hoping Liverpool loanee Marko Grujic is back to fitness in midfield.

Hoffenheims season has been a bit of a roller-coaster ride too, but for the moment, at least, it looks like Julian Nagelsmanns men are beginning another ascent. Hoffenheim had lost three in a row prior to 3-1, 4-0, 4-1, and 2-1 wins over Nurnberg, Stuttgart, Leverkusen and Augsburg in the league respectively, and its been English youngster ReissNelson and BrazilianJoelinton that have proven key to their form. With Tuesdays UEFA Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk looming, Nagelsmann may use Nelson from the start in an effort to manage his resources. Between them, the pair has scored four of Hoffenheims last six goals 10 of Hoffenheims 24 goals overall and now last seasons third-place finishers are just one point short of the top four.

That said, the hosts arent infallible at the back, while Hertha, even in defeat, have often found the net on their travels. On this basis, a small bet on Hoffenheim to Win & Both Teams to Score is merited. In summary, Hoffenheim have offered lots going forward both in recent times and at home overall this season, while Hertha have given lots away on the road.

Our prediction for this Bundesliga match:

They were beaten by Freiburg back at the start of March and have since lost three on the spin, losing against Dortmund, Leipzig and Dusseldorf. Crucially, theyve been giving too much away at the back, which doesnt exactly bode well ahead of a match against Hoffenheims strong attack. While Hoffenheim, whove won three of their last four, have been ticking along nicely of late, Hertha have been struggling.

In each of their last three meetings in the German elite division Hoffenheim emerged triumphant and, taking everything into account, the visitors are unlikely to put an end to the negative trend. Julian Nagelsmanns troops are obviously a real force to be reckoned with at home and they will be looking to give fans yet another reason for celebration when they take on Hertha Berlin in Sundays football match. Mark Uth scored a brace in the historical 2-0 victory over Bayern Munich and all eyes will be on him when Hoffenheim face Hertha in front of home fans. The capital club, on the other hand, dropped two points in a 1-1 draw with Werder Bremen at the weekend and considering that Pal Dardais men often struggle on the travels, we predict that the hosts are going to pick up all three points from Sundays clash. Against all odds, Hoffenheim outplayed title holders Bayern Munich at their WIRSOL Rhein-Neckar-Arena at the weekend.

Head to Head

Julian Nagelsmanns troops have been scoring goals for fun of late and we are positive that they will go all guns blazing at the capital club on Matchday 29. It is well known that Hoffenheim are a real force to be reckoned with at home and seeing that Pal Dardais troops have nothing to play for in the season finale, we are tempted to put our money on the hosts. Buoyed by a thrilling 4-0 win over Augsburg, Hoffenheim will be looking to give fans yet another reason for celebration when they take on Hertha at their PreZero Arena.

Next to winning the German national league Hertha Berlin managed to reach to the final in the DFB Pokal in 1977, 1979 and 1993. After the bombings Hertha Berlin stated to play their games in the Olympic Stadium in Berlin. The club colors of Hertha Berlin are blue and red and is also known as Die Alte Dame which is the same nickname as Juventus. Hertha Berlin originally played its home games in the Plumpe which got bombed during the WW II.

Moreover, as good as they are at home, Hoffenheim have a habit of conceding, shipping at least once in four of their last five at Rhein-Neckar-Arena as well as in 11 of their 14 in front of a home crowd. Sundays visitors have scored in eight of their last ten away matches, while theyve notched a reasonably respectable average of 1.36 goals for on their travels. However, while Herthas defensive efforts suggest that theyll struggle on Sunday, they have often got competitive going forward on the road.

Highlighted Player (Oliver Baumann):

Coming through the youth ranks at Sparta Prague and gaining some first team experience during a loan spell with Viktoria Zizkov, the right-sided defender was finally able to show what he is capable of during the 2012/2013 season and he didnt need a lot of time to make the next step in his career. Pavel Kaderabek is a Czech Republic defender born on 25 April 1992, who has enjoyed a bright start to his professional career.

Both teams have scored in a massive 91% of Hoffenheims matches this season too, including all of those away from home, soSaturdays game clearly has the potential to be a thriller. Expect Hoffenheim to control the flow of this game, and with over 3.5 goals landing in 80% of their away matches, goals should flow their way. When digging deeper into the stats, its easy to see why. And as mentioned before, a number of key defensive injuries wont do an out-of-sorts Hertha any favours. Only Bayern Munich have recorded more shots on target than Hoffenheim in Bundesliga away matches, while only six teams have conceded more shots on target against them at home than Hertha! Our prediction: 3-1 TSG Hoffenheim.
